Terms of Use

1. Not Legal Advice
CheckDoc provides AI-generated summaries of documents for informational purposes only. Nothing on this site — including any analysis, summary, risk score, or red flag — constitutes legal advice. No attorney-client relationship is created by your use of this service.
You should not rely on CheckDoc as a substitute for professional legal counsel. Before signing any legally binding document, consult a qualified attorney licensed in your jurisdiction.
2. Description of Service
CheckDoc is a pay-per-use service that accepts uploaded documents (PDF, JPG, PNG) and uses artificial intelligence to produce a plain-language summary, highlight notable clauses, and assign an indicative risk level. Outputs are generated automatically and have not been reviewed by a licensed attorney.
3. Payment
The fee for each document analysis is $4.99 USD, inclusive of any applicable VAT, GST, or other consumption tax, which is calculated and shown at checkout. The fee is charged at the time of use via Stripe. No account or subscription is required. Payment is processed securely by Stripe — CheckDoc does not store your payment card details.
Immediate performance & right of withdrawal (EU/UK consumers): The analysis is digital content delivered immediately after payment. By ticking the consent box before checkout, you expressly request immediate performance and acknowledge that you thereby lose your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal (Art. 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU; § 356 (5) BGB). This does not limit the voluntary refund policy below.
Refund policy: We want you to feel confident using CheckDoc. You may request a full refund within 24 hours of purchase, no questions asked, by emailing support@checkdoc.store with your Stripe receipt. Refunds are always issued if payment was taken but no analysis was delivered due to a technical error on our end. After the 24-hour window, refunds are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Your mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected.
4. Document Privacy & Deletion
Your uploaded document is stored in Vercel's encrypted cloud storage solely to perform the analysis. It is deleted immediately after analysis completes. Uploads that are never analyzed (e.g. abandoned checkouts) are removed by automated cleanup — usually within the hour, and at the latest within 48 hours. We do not retain, back up, or manually review document contents. Your analysis result (the generated summary, including quoted clauses) is stored for up to 24 hours so you can revisit your results page, and is then deleted automatically. To generate the analysis, document content is also transmitted to Anthropic's Claude API over an encrypted connection. See our Privacy Policy for full details including all sub-processors.
5. Accuracy & Limitations
AI-generated summaries may be incomplete, inaccurate, or miss clauses significant to your specific situation. CheckDoc makes no warranty, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any output.
Results may vary depending on document quality, language, jurisdiction, and document type. While CheckDoc can process documents in multiple languages, legal analysis is optimised for English-language documents governed by common-law jurisdictions (US, UK, AU, CA). Documents in German, French, or other languages are supported on a best-effort basis. CheckDoc does not assess compliance with every national legal system.
6. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use CheckDoc to:
- Upload documents you do not have the right to share
- Attempt to reverse-engineer or extract the underlying AI prompts
- Resell or repackage outputs as legal advice to third parties
- Use the service for automated bulk processing
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CheckDoc and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to decisions made in reliance on an analysis.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of your use of CheckDoc shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific document analysis giving rise to the claim (maximum $4.99).
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any defects will be corrected.
9. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by substantive Swiss law, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). CheckDoc is operated from Switzerland (see our Imprint). Place of jurisdiction is the operator's Swiss domicile, subject to any mandatory consumer venues under applicable law.
EU / EEA consumers: Nothing in these Terms affects your rights under mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence. You may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
UK consumers: Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law. UK consumers may also bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of CheckDoc after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. The date at the top of this page reflects when the Terms were last revised.
